We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

Exam responses, writing and voice recordings

HSKWin exists to mark work you produce, so some of what we store is the work itself.

1. Mock test answers — Your answers and scores are stored against your account, or against a browser cookie if you are not signed in. Anonymous attempts are transferred to your account if you later sign up from the same browser.
2. Writing submissions — Text you submit for AI marking is sent to our AI provider for processing and stored with the resulting mark so you can review it later.
3. Voice recordings — Speaking practice records audio in your browser. The recording is sent to our speech-recognition provider to be transcribed, stored in our object storage so you can play your own answer back, and marked. We do not use your recordings to train any model, and we do not share them with anyone other than the processors named above.

You can request deletion of your answers, submissions and recordings at any time by contacting us; deleting your account removes all of them.

AI processing

Writing marking and speaking scoring are performed by third-party AI providers acting as processors on our instructions. Only the submission itself and the task prompt are sent — never your name, email or payment details. Marks are estimates produced by software and are not an official HSK result or a prediction guaranteed by any examining body.

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our service:

1. Account Information — Your name, email address, and other details you provide when creating an account.
2. Usage Data — Information about how you interact with the service, including features accessed, frequency of use, and interaction patterns.
3. Device Information — Device type, operating system, and browser type, used to optimize compatibility and performance.
4. Cookies — Small data files stored on your device to remember preferences and improve your experience.
5. Payment Information — Billing details handled by trusted third-party payment processors. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the data we collect to:

Who processes your data

We do not sell your personal information and we never have. These are the only categories of third party that receive any of it, and each acts as a processor on our instructions:

Nothing sent to the AI providers includes your name, email address or payment details, and none of it is used to train any model.

How long we keep it

• Account data — for as long as your account exists, then deleted within 30 days of closure.
• Exam attempts, marks, writing and recordings — until you delete them or close your account.
• Anonymous (guest) attempts — 180 days from the last activity, then deleted, because they are tied only to a cookie that expires on the same schedule.
• Order and invoice records — up to 7 years where tax or accounting law requires it, even after account closure. These contain the transaction, not your exam work.
• Server logs — 30 days.

Legal bases (UK/EU)

We rely on: contract for anything needed to run your account and deliver what you paid for; legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention and product analytics; legal obligation for tax and accounting records; and consent for optional analytics cookies, which you can withdraw at any time.

International transfers

Our infrastructure runs on a global edge network, so your data may be processed outside your own country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard in our contracts with each processor.

Children

HSKWin is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to hold an anonymous exam attempt before you have an account. Optional analytics cookies are used only with your consent. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time; doing so signs you out and detaches any guest attempt that was not yet claimed by an account.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, sending a notice through the service.
