What a real timed HSK mock test includes

  • Section clocks, the way the exam runs them

One section opens at a time with its own time limit. When it closes, you cannot go back to it.

  • Recordings played as they are on the day

Twice per question at levels 1–3, once from level 4 up, with no pause or replay button.

  • A score the moment you submit

Listening and reading are marked against the key straight away, each section shown against the pass line.

  • Writing marked by AI against a rubric

Usually within a few minutes, with every deduction pointed out and a rewrite to compare. Translation and speaking at 7–9 too.

  • Every question explained

Why the answer is right, where the tempting option was set to catch you, and the line of the recording or passage it rests on. Preview a few before you sit it.

How scoring works — instant results and AI writing marks

Every section is marked out of 100. HSK 1 is out of 200 with a pass at 120; HSK 2 to 6 are out of 300 with a pass at 180 — 60% in both cases. HSK 7–9 has five sections, is out of 500 and has no pass line: the result places you at level 7, 8 or 9.

Listening and reading have an answer key, so they are scored the moment you submit, with every question in a section worth the same. Writing has no key; it is marked by AI against a rubric. CTI does not publish how much each writing task is worth, so the weighting between tasks is ours, and we say so.

How HSK 3.0 differs from the old HSK 2.0

The level numbers stayed; the papers behind them did not. Here is each level side by side, and every level page sets out its own changes part by part.

  • Nine levels instead of six. HSK 7–9 is new: one paper, five sections, graded into bands.
  • Much larger word lists at every level — HSK 3 goes from 600 words to 2,245, HSK 4 from 1,200 to 3,245.
  • Fewer but longer questions from HSK 4 up: talks with several questions each, sentence gap-fill, paragraph ordering, and essays in place of sentence drills.
  • Writing starts at HSK 2, and levels 3 to 6 now come with a speaking test, registered with the written exam and sat separately.

Are HSKWin’s mock tests based on the current HSK 3.0 syllabus?

Yes. Every paper here, from HSK 1 to HSK 7–9, is written to the HSK 3.0 exam syllabus CTI published in November 2025 for use from July 2026, and follows the structure of CTI’s official 3.0 sample papers: the same sections, the same question types in the same order, the same timing. Before a paper goes live, every word in it is checked against the syllabus list for its level.

The caveat is about your exam, not the papers. Levels 7–9 are already sat under HSK 3.0. For levels 1 to 6, CTI has published the new syllabus but not the date regular sittings switch, so a 2026 sitting of HSK 1–6 may still be the 2.0 paper. The version is printed on your registration record, and the tracker is updated whenever CTI announces anything. HSK 3.0 status tracker

FAQ

Which HSK level should I sit?+

If you are not sure, take the ten-question placement test first. It estimates your level from vocabulary and grammar and sends you to the paper that matches.

Find out in 3 minutes
Are these official HSK past papers?+

No. CTI has not released any HSK 3.0 past papers, so these are practice papers written to the 3.0 syllabus and to the structure of CTI’s official sample papers.

Is it free?+

Previewing any paper — up to three questions from each section, with the answer and explanation — is free and needs no account. Sitting a paper on the clock, scored and marked, is part of a paid plan. One piece of writing practice a day is marked free.

See plans
How long does a paper take?+

As long as the real exam: HSK 1 40 min, HSK 2 1 h, HSK 3 1 h 23 min, HSK 4 1 h 25 min, HSK 5 1 h 50 min, HSK 6 2 h 5 min, HSK 7–9 3 h 30 min.

Can I pause a timed paper?+

No. As in the exam, each section’s clock keeps running on the server. If your connection drops you can go back to the sitting and carry on, and it does not use another sitting.
