What is in an HSK 2 paper
The clock runs per section, as it does in the exam: each section opens with its own time limit, and once it closes you cannot go back to it. Every recording plays twice.

What this section really tests
Twenty-five items, each played twice: a sentence to a picture, two-line exchanges matched to a bank of six pictures, then short conversations with a spoken question. The last part is the first place on the exam where you have to hold two speakers in your head at once.
Listening runs on the recording. Read ahead on the six-picture parts: cross off each picture once it is used.

What this section really tests
Twenty-five items that move from pictures to word gap-fill, to matching a remark with its reply, to a sentence with a ★ question. The reply-matching is two banks of six, so one early mistake can cost you a second answer.
Reading gives a minute a question. Do the banks of six in one pass and come back to the pair you are unsure of — by then only two options are left.

第56—60题:看拼音,写汉字。
What this section really tests
Ten items and the first handwriting-style task in the series. Completing a character tests whether you know how it is built, not just how it looks; writing from pinyin tests whether you can produce it at all.
Writing gets ten minutes for ten items. Components first (they are recognition), then the pinyin items; leave a minute to check stroke-level details such as 己 / 已.
How HSK 2 is scored
300marks in total · pass at 180, which is 60%
- Listening, 25 questionsabout 4.0 marks each, by key
- Reading, 25 questionsabout 4.0 marks each, by key
- Writing, 10 questionsmarked by AI against a rubric
- Each section is marked out of 100, so the paper is out of 300. You pass with 180, which is 60% of the total.
- Questions carry equal weight within a section: each listening question is worth about 4.0 marks and each reading question is worth about 4.0 marks.
- Writing is marked against a rubric rather than an answer key. CTI does not publish how much each task is worth, so the weighting between tasks is ours.
- Listening and reading are scored the moment you submit. Writing is marked by AI, usually within a few minutes, with every deduction pointed out and a rewrite to compare against.

The two sections you can’t grade yourself
Listening and reading have an answer key. Writing and speaking don’t, and they’re where most people lose the exam.
Is this HSK 2 paper based on the current HSK 3.0 syllabus?
Yes. It follows the HSK 3.0 exam syllabus CTI published for levels 1–9, in force from July 2026, and the HSK 2 structure in CTI’s official sample paper: 60 questions across listening, reading and writing, about 60 minutes, marked out of 300. Before a paper goes live, every word in it is checked against the syllabus list for this level and below.
What it cannot promise is which version your own sitting will be. CTI has not announced when regular HSK 1–6 sittings switch from 2.0 to 3.0, so an HSK 2 sitting in 2026 may still be the old paper. Check the version on your registration record: if it says 3.0, or your exam falls after the switch, this is the paper to practise on. If it says 2.0, most of the vocabulary carries over but the question types and timing do not. HSK 3.0 status tracker

How HSK 3.0 Level 2 differs from the old HSK 2
Talk about routine, shopping, travel and immediate needs.
| Item | Old HSK 2 (2.0) | HSK 3.0 Level 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Questions | 60 | 60 |
| Time | 55 min | 1 h |
| Sections | Listening, reading | Listening, reading and writing |
| Words | 300 | 1,272 |
| Total / pass | 200 / 120 | 300 / 180 |
- Listening drops from 35 questions in four parts to 25 in three; reading stays at 25.
- A writing section is new at this level: complete a character by choosing its missing component (亻 + 十 = 什), then write characters from pinyin.
- With three sections of 100 marks each, the paper is out of 300 rather than 200.
- The word target rises from 300 to 1,272, and the sitting runs about 60 minutes instead of 55.

See plansCan I sit the same paper twice?+
Yes. Sitting a paper again starts a fresh attempt and uses one sitting from your plan. Going back to a sitting you left unfinished does not.
Are these official past papers?+
No. CTI has not released any HSK 3.0 past papers, so these are practice papers written to the 3.0 syllabus and to the structure of CTI’s official sample paper.
